Children are becoming too "tech savy" and missing out on important imaginary play.

I love this article and was going to post it myself, but you beat me to it! I love the way it explains the importance of open-ended play and the inability for children to use their imaginations with guided apps.

This is one of the most engaging and fun educational math site that I've come across as it closely resembles a video game. This program has the perfect balance of engaging elements for students and feedback tools for teachers. It is for grades 1-8. Prodigy ensures that each students succeeds at their own pace using a diagnostic test to place students in the correct grade, embedded assessments, and automatic differentiation.

I saw some of the fourth grade boys in my school playing this and thought it was a restricted game! I love that they love it!

I like how they state that technology is here to stay, so they are embracing it and giving their position on how it should be used in early childhood.

Technology can benefit young children when used appropriately, says Donohue - 2 views

I loved this line from the article, "technology is just a tool. It shouldn't be used in classrooms or child care centers because it's cool, but because teachers can do activities that support the healthy development of children."

The Emergence of Emergent Curriculum | National Association for the Education of Young ... - 2 views

  •
This article highlights the issues with curriculum and the importance of emergent curriculum. Teachers are so often wrapped up in producing a curriculum that they don't realize how important it is to base the curriculum on the development and interests of the children. Their ideas and questions can add more meaning behind the activities that they are engaging in. Often times I see teachers doing an activity just to do it instead of doing the activity to teach the children something that they are interested in.
