Motivation, both intrinsic and extrinsic, is a key factor in the success of students at all stages of their education, and teachers can play a pivotal role in providing and encouraging that motivation in their students. Of course that’s much easier said than done, as all students are motivated differently and it takes time and a lot of effort to learn to get a classroom full of kids enthusiastic about learning, working hard, and pushing themselves to excel.

Abby, this would be a great topic for the "mini-project" that we will be working on in the next few week. We are heavily focusing on the SAMR model in our school division. I like the examples provided as well.

I assume that many students nowadays have twitter accounts or access. This twitter group seems to be a great collection of humanities resources, and using a social media site would hopefully excite students. I even thought that it would be fun to have students make a twitter account of historical figures, imagine a twitter war between Abraham Lincoln and Jefferson Davis!

I love all of the suggestion , but I especially like "Give students a sense of control", "Offer varied experiences" and "Give students responsibility" I plan to add a link to this site in one of the upcoming modules.
