I think that they were very close because it says that they were old friends
    • Max T

I would say that they were friends in more than one way. Their friendship is complicated because It was the first person ether of them had seen for 16 years and Faria was also Edmonds teacher.
    • Caleb P

I think they were very very close friends. Faria helped Dantes escape from his idea of suicide, and helped him get back to sanity. Now that Faria has passed there has been a lot of sadness in the story.
    • Alex C

I would say that they were very very good friends who had spend a lot of time together and knew most secrets about each other
    • Scott P

I think they had a tight bond because when Faria passed away, Dantes wanted to kill himself out of depression hence the tight bond.
    • Hugo B

I would describe Edmond's relationship with Faria as a very close relationship I would think they would been friends for a long time by the reaction Edmond got when Faria died
    • Ben A

I think they were very close because I would assume when they were depressed or lonely they would talk to each other and also Faria would have been the only person Edmond could talk to. Also the sadness and depression when Faria dies proves he cares for him.
    • Sam C

I think that they were very close because they shared a lot of secrets together and because there was a lot of sadness in Farias passing.

He had a risky idea to escape.
    • Alex C

I think its his reflecting on his time in the dungeon of the chateau and overall reflecting on his life because his friend who he been his only friend to talk to for 10+  years
    • Caleb P

Dantes has come up with an Idea.
    • Harrison L

What I think that was supposed to happen was that he was thinking about what he should do next
    • Harrison L

i think that he was thinking about what he should do next
    • Scott P

      Dantes had an epiphany.
    • Ben A

I think Edmond has got an idea/plan to escape the dungeon.
    • Sam C

I think Dantes is thinking of what he should do next
    • Hugo B

The thing that happened to the of paragraph 4 was Edmond Dante thinking of an idea to escape the dungeon

      7. How has the author created suspense when the two men enter Faria's cell?
    • Max T

That start talking about a knot that Edmond had not thought about.
    • Alex C

It adds Suspense beacuse he thinks he is going to be buried but when they tie the not it geets you on the edge of your seat
    • Harrison L

It created suspense because the grave diggers were talking about a knot which Edmond Dante didn't know what it was and he thought he was going to be buried in the dirt
    • Caleb P

The men say something about 'more weight' saying that they will add more weight to his body. Presuming that he may not get buried. Also they talk about a knot that they have to tie.
    • Scott P

he used suspense by planting the idea of the grave but the added little hints about what the REALLY wanted to do.
    • Hugo B

The author adds suspense when the two men enter Faria's cell because the two men were talking about the knot in the sheet and Edmond Dante didn't know that he would be thrown of a cliff into jagged rocks and dangerous waters he thought he would be buried
    • Sam C

The author added suspense by talking about the knot Edmond had not thought about because Edmond though he was going to be buried not thrown of a cliff with sharp rocks under the cliff.

      6. How has the author used 'Show not tell' in paragraph 3?
    • Max T

He showed us that they were coming to take not told.
    • Scott P

'His hand placed upon his heart was unable to redress its throbbings, while, with the other he wiped the perspiration from his temples' signaling he is nervouse.

The author has given description of how nervous Dantes was but did not say he was nervous.
    • Harrison L

the author used show not tell by telling us that the grave diggers were coming to take Edmond Dante
    • Hugo B

The author used Show not tell in paragraph 3 by saying His hand placed upon his heart was unable to redress its throbbing, while, with the other he wiped the perspiration from his temples' pretty much saying he is very nervous.
    • Ben A

He has said "footsteps were heard on the stairs" instead of the saying "the grave diggers walked to take him away.
    • Sam C

The author has done show not tell by not saying he was nervous but by saying his heart was beating and he wiped the perspiration from his temples.

      4. Why do you think the author Alexandre Dumas has extended sentence 4 in paragraph 1?
    • Max T

I think the author did it to point out it was all done fast because usually short sentences mean it's slow and so the opposite is fast.
    • Harrison L

to make the sentence like a thought.
    • Alex C

I think the author has been extended sentence 4 in paragraph 1 is because he probably is a writer like me he goes with the flow and writes while he goes and has been thinking up all these good ideas.
    • Caleb P

Because it is shown to give the reader an Idea of the scene being a procedure. With all the comma's it shows his actions done in a slow motion type of scene, careful and slow.
    • Hugo B

author Alexandre Dumas has extended sentence 4 in paragraph 1 to say that, that bit in the book went fast so there were no commas because if it had short sentances it would'nt be as thrilling for the reader
    • Ben A

Because he was creating the thinking process you go through when you get an idea. I think he does this to create hope in the readers mind.
    • Sam C

I think he has extended it to create hope and to make it more thrilling because if it was a short sentence there would be less thrill but because he has made it a long sentence it makes it more thrilling.
