"The Perelman School of Medicine of the University of Pennsylvania and Virtual Ability, Inc. announce their collaboration on a major patient-centered outcomes research (PCOR) project entitled, "Mrs. A and Mr. B." The working definition for PCOR is provided by the Patient Centered Outcomes Research Institute (PCORI). The project is funded by PCORI. This project, "Mrs. A and Mr. B," aims to identify those fundamental changes in the health services and delivery system that are needed to create equitable, compassionate, empowering, affordable, and life enhancing systems of healthcare. The project seeks public dialogue about good and bad experiences in the current system. It will combine what the public tells us with findings about how access and healthcare quality as perceived by thousands of adult (>21 years of age) Medicare beneficiaries impacts progression of disabilities and survival. Patients are at the center of everything health providers do. It is essential to ask people with disabilities to help address and guide how healthcare should be delivered to them. The project will promote empowerment and self-direction by providing better information for people with disabilities about the importance of advocating for better access and higher quality care. The Mrs. A. and Mr. B. project is currently recruiting participants from the United States (clinicians, people with disabilities, and people without disabilities) for participation in a survey and virtual world-based focus group. If you are already a member of Second Life®, you may be eligible to participate. Please, consider volunteering to be part of this research.
