Voxy - 1 views

I came across this website not too long ago and was surprised by the type of approach it uses to help ESL students learn English. Voxy uses current articles from world news, pop culture, as well as sports to help students learn. This would be a great tool that can be used in an ESL classroom. As the student reads an article, s(he) can click on highlighted words in the text and hear the words pronounced. By clicking the highlighted words, they also become automatically generated into a vocabulary list that the students could learn. The lists could very well be used for quizzes and games. The website is available in both English and Spanish. It is free and very easy to use. Check it out.

European Virtual Museum - 0 views

  •
The European Virtual Museum is a free website, which would be great in a social studies classroom where the teacher would have the chance to show students various artifacts of European history in 3D that they may or may never see otherwise. One important thing to point out is that users must have and be familiar with Quick Time technology to view and manipulate the size or them. position of the artifacts.

ePals Global Community - 0 views

Free global learning community. This works for teachers who want to incorporate technology and projects with others all over the world. Students love talking to students from other places. Only downside is time for teacher to approve student accounts and students remembering their passwords.

Google Body Browser - 0 views

  •
This is a demo website released by Google that is free to use and it gives a 360 degree view of the human body. Students can turn on layers to see bones, muscles, organs, and the nervous system. In addition, every time the student clicks on a body part, a label with the proper name of the body part appears. It is a great learning tool, but one problem that I found is that some web browsers such as Firefox do not seem to support the WebGL, which is a new standard for 3D on the web.

Math Open Reference - 0 views

  •
This resource is great for the students to practice their math skills and it is free. However, I must point out that although Math Open Reference is not as attractive to the eye, is user-friendly and the students would not be overwhelmed with information when they get to the page. The information on the website is separated by math concept and there are links for each. Furthermore, the website features animated and interactive drawings to demonstrate mathematical terms and concepts.

This is a free website that teachers can use in their math classroom. The website is for the students to practice mathematical concepts and it is very catchy, with great graphics, and it allows the students to create a free account and even name their character. As I said, this website is very user-friendly and it would attract a student with its colorful layout. Brain Nook is a virtual world which provides students with different scenarios that they have to resolve by answering mathematical and language arts questions. Great resource!
